Oh Glory!

In between conference sessions on saturday, we went up to the Owyhee dam. Some fun facts about the Owyhee Dam: It is 52 miles long and is the largest dam in Oregon. I have grown up by this dam and frequented it many a times for water sports. During the summer, after we would get our chores done, we would run up there with the boat and go water skiing, kneeborarding, tubing, etc. Many great memories as a kid are associated with this reservoir. We took a drive up to it because they are letting out lots of water through the glory hole and it is producing lots of flooding. There was actually a man from the irrigation district there and he told us it has been 5 years since they let water out the glory hole. They have too much coming into the dam and they are having to let it out. This is a pretty big deal around here.

You can see the mist from the spillway. It was pretty cool in person.

I found these older photos on wikipedia. It is fun to see how it has changed a bit.
