Halloween 2011

HALLOWEEN! It's the most wonderful time of the year! I absolutely LOVE this holiday. It is the coolest. You get to dress up like someone else for a night. My most favorite is halloween parties. Next year I am going to have one at my house or with someone else because they are the bomb! I love ANYTHING about halloween, but probably making food spooky and gross is the best part. We spent the night the night at Trunk or Treat at the church and then hit up a few houses and called it a night. We took Crayton and Kenzie with us for the night as Maria had to work late.

I really loved my costume this year. Please tell me you know who I am!
Rosie the Riveter and Tommy dressed up as a military man which worked out nicely.

(Thanks Tyson for letting me borrow your work coveralls!)

Flashback to WWII

In the words of Mater: "Don't get much better (CUTER) than this!"

I really like Trunk or Treat at the church. Fun, safe, and FAST. Then we hit a few homes that we wanted to make sure to visit and we are back home. Good on nights like this, when the wind is bitter cold.

The kids hit up their dad a few times. He really is a sucker when it comes to his kids.

Livy wasn't very good at saying Trick or Treat, but she could hold her bag open. Livy fluttering her wings for some candy. Thanks Aunt Susan, Tammy, and Ruben for figuring out her language for candy. Pretty universal this night of the year.

Myself with Kacie Talbot (Hermione Granger).

Crayton the Astronaut and Kenzie the Majestic Turquoise Peacock.

They were just getting home when we had stopped at their house! We surprised Janetta. Love the look on her face.

Such a cool story behind this picture. When we got there, I asked Dee if he knew what I was and posed for him. He said "ya, You are a Riveter." Then he told us a story from when he was in WWII and met a few 'real' riveters. It was pretty cool. I love Dee. Just love him.

One stop of the night was at the Bennett's house. Julie had such a cute line up of mischievous pumpkins.

Can you see Julie? She is buried in the middle there.

At the end of the night. Last one while the kids were still behaving. After this, sugar comas!

Favorite stop: Grandma Schulthies' house.

I made the kids stand in front of paper cut outs. Mom has had these for ages. She used them when I was a kid, fond memories.

Last dramatic event for the evening was Howie and Brigs running into one another. Howie came out of it with a nice shiner. That will be a good memory.

Happy Halloween to all and to all a ghoul night!

Howie's Class Halloween Party

Being Room Mom for Howie's class has sure kept me busy. We pulled off a fun Halloween party for the kids. We decorated pumpkin sugar cookies. The kids had a great time. Thanks to the other moms for making it a success!

Adrian School Carnival

Our little Adrian school had a fall carnival. It was perfect for young children. I was busy helping Mrs Martin (1st grade) run our booth, the fishing booth. Tommy helped the kids have a good time. Some of the cousins came and had fun too! We didn't get too many photos, but the kids had a fabulous time.

Livy insisted on being a pink tutu princess (thrown together in 5 minutes due to her meltdown) even though we had a ladybug costume. Howie was Captain America.

Taking a break. Howie won some pretty cool halloween cupcakes from the cake walk!

Livy=Pink Tutu Princess, Abigail =Witch, Tessa=Little Bo Peep, Jaynee=Cleopatra, Evelynne=Pumpkin Princess, Kailani=Herminoe Granger, Howie=Captain America, Brigs=Skeleton.

There were a couple of class competitions all going on at the same time. One was the scarecrow competition. This is what I came up with for our class. {Sign says: Mrs. Martin and her little 'crows} I had gone in to the classroom one day and helped the kids make their own scarecrow on paint sticks. I think it turned out cute. The public was the voters that night and we ended up winning! It was fun, but a lot of work.

October Family-Get-Together

Krista Frahm hosted family night this month at her home. It was lots of fun. Lots of playing, snacking, visiting and game playing happened. The kids had a whole room to play in (and they made a huge mess. Sorry Krista if we left you a big mess.). Krista taught us a card game called Golf that was fun and the best part is that it accommodates large groups. It was cool.

Howie's Class at the Corn Maze

I got to go with Howie's class to the Corn Maze. I had Livy, Kenzie and Crayton with me. We had a fun time.
They had this cute little kid maze made of hay bales. It helped get a lot of pent up energy out for the kids. They ran and ran through this maze about 15 times before we got to the corn maze.

We had our clan plus Zach in our group.

After we all made it out of the maze, then they enjoyed a hay ride.

The kids loved using this onion launcher, Howie included. Most of the kids weren't heavy enough to pull it back enough to launch it. It would end up dragging the kids forward. They were some pretty powerful rubber bands.

Practicing their roping skills.

Then they enjoyed a barrel ride. Pretty fun morning.
