to do it after you've learned. That is how I am feeling about sewing. I learned how to sew and took classes in middle and high school but then stopped when I went to college. I have puttered around with a project here and there with years between them and not really doing any of them well. It has been ten years since graduation! Yikes! Well, I have picked up this old trade again and am loving it. I scored an old 70's sewing machine FREE at a yard sale, had it tuned up and works like a beauty. I have recently made a car seat cover and burp clothes for Marci's baby, decided to finish an old quit I started seven years ago (hope to have it quilted this month----by someone else, not me. The quilt is work enough!), been working on home projects, apron for Sheree's birthday and now this:
a selfish project just for me. Thanks so much to my bud Julie who had the pattern and patients (thanks mom) patience to help me make one. I discovered a little fabric boutique shop that has terribly over priced fabrics that are to die for. I could window shop in there for hours and that is mostly what I do since I don't have loads of money. However, I am now saving up to make Olivia a new bedspread with a cute line of fabrics I found at that store.
The kids insisted on being in the photo, but I made some curtains to cover the untidy items in the bottom of the bookshelves.
Sheree's Apron
Just like riding a bike, you never really forget how to do it.

Oh my goodness I LOVE that hat!!! That's super cute!
okay, hand over the pattern with your hands up or else someone's gonna get hurt......
I need that pattern, not that I know how to sew but I have friends that do:)
Great Job, Tara!!!! I'm proud of you! And patience is the correct form.....not patients(that's what Tommy has)....just your mother always helping out....Love, Mom
ps. how does Martha have time to do all those fun things with you and still work full time????? Is she superwoman or what!
Good for you!! I love sewing! I made Ella's crib bedding set out of the same fabric that you used for Sheree's apron. It is SUPER cute. I have saved some to make a quilt with later on. I also LOVE nice fabric. Once you start using it you can't go back. It's bad bad bad!! Then you start stock piling it into bins and have to move it! And no I don't speak from experience....;)
Glad you are enjoying yourself!! You have made some super cute projects! The hat is so cute!!!
Yea for Tara! All of your projects are darling and you'll never regret "re-learning" how to sew. I love creating things out of beautiful fabrics and I know what you mean when you talk about the fabric stores. When I visit my sister in Utah, we always hit all the cute quilt shops and add to our "collections".
Good job and keep sewing...it will be a blessing in your life and to many others, too!
On a more nostalgic note...I've been getting ready for Girls camp in a few weeks and recalled the first year I went as your leader. That's honestly the first time that I felt like I really got to know you and love you. You were a lot of fun that year and I'm grateful for those memories! We are having a special fast this weekend with all of the Young Women and YW leaders in the Stake that we'll have good weather (no rain) and that each YW will have a spiritual experience at camp, knowing that she is a daughter of God. I'm excited for it to get here, even though I don't look forward to 4 nights with NO SLEEP! Oh, well, that's what it's all about, right?! Love, Tami
