Pie Lady

The Pie Lady is from Middleton and super popular. Well, because she makes AWESOME pies and her crusts are flaky and divine. Nyssa 2nd ward allowed our ward to join them. She taught us how to make a good crust and provided us with recipes (for fruit pies and cream pies), but the best part is that we actually made our pies there. She had all of our crusts ready in balls of dough. She had the fruit fillings already made. Everything was the perfect setting to bust out a couple of pies in no time. Then package them in freezer bags, freeze and you are ready with a pie when the occasion arose. It was so cool. Perfect going into the Holiday season to have pies ready to bake and serve. She had apple, cherry, blueberry and razzleberry pie fillings. I made four, helped makes mom's pies, and had a lot of fun girl time with Maria and Lori as they made theirs too! I am definitely looking forward to the Pie Lady coming again. So fun!

Jalapeno Raspberry Jelly

Look at the product of this beautiful day of work:

It is Jalapeno Raspberry Jelly. We didn't take the extra steps and work to strain the raspberry seeds. We made some batches hotter than others. It was a combination of recipes we found on the internet and it worked fairly well. We will have to adjust it for next year as there is too much pectin or something because it is very thick. Nothing that a few seconds in the microwave doesn't solve. Our favorite way to eat this: Pour this bad boy over a brick of cream cheese and eat with crackers. Finger-licking-good.

Becky, the World Traveler

Becky, aka traveling sister, went to present (how cool is that, she was a presenter, not just attended this conference!) at a conference in Vienna Austria back in September. Just wanted to share some of her pics. Mostly, because I am so jealous I wasn't there. Looks just stunning. At least I can visit the world through her.

Run For the Hills (Fruitland) Half Marathon

Holy Cow! Global warming must be happening, the end of the world is here, unheard of events are taking place. My brother Weston ran a half marathon! That is 13.1 miles for you who might not know how far that is. He ran it with his wife Lori (who is a great runner). And to choose this race of all races to run for your first! It has some crazy hills in it, not for the faint of heart. The crazy thing is that he prepared very little for it, has never ran any other kind of race, and wasn't too terribly sore the next couple of days! If we could all be like that, right!! He ran it in 2:26. I honestly can't believe he did this. He is incredible. I still can't get over the fact that my farmer brother ran a .5 marathon (hasn't even started out running a 5K or anything). The cosmos are colliding, Armageddon is upon us! All jokes aside, we are terribly proud of you Weston. Way to go Lori. You guys are an inspiration.

General Conference Family Dinner

We enjoyed dinner at Chavalitas (delicious mexican restaurant, finally Nyssa gets a really good place to eat) after the priesthood session of conference. We really enjoyed ourselves and the yummy food! This could be the start of yummy tradition.
